Mussel boats waiting longside the Flagstaff stage to take customers on angling trips
Keith Willacy collection
Waiting for customers alongside the Flagstaff stage. The angling trips were undertaken usung mussel boats and the local name for this activity was kebbing. This name was derived from the type of handline used, which was a fishing line that was carried on a small, square, wooden, frame. The men working these boats were all mussel fishermen following their summer calling. This was one of the hardest task performed by the pleasure boaters as they had to dig fresh lugworm bait everyday.
