Letter patent of George II appointing John Carter junior to be custodian, conductor and guide of the sands near Cartmel called Kent Sands, lately belonging to the Priory of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Cartmel; also to have one tenement in Kents Bank in Cartmel called Carter’s House, with three closes adjacent and the fee of £5 per year; given at the Palace of Westminster under the seals of the Duchy of Lancaster and the County Palatine of Lancaster, 23 Mar 1728
