A civic gathering for the naming ceremony of the Morecambe Fisherman’s lifeboat Sir William Priestley. The boat was paid for by Sir William Priestley’s widow, Lady Priestley, who is cutting the ribbon. Sir William Priestley was an industrialist and the former Mayor of Bradford. The boat was built by Crossfield’s boatyard, Arnside, in 1934.
In a booklet called Morecambe Lifeboats by Keith Willacy, the boat is identified as the ‘Morecambe Fisherman’s lifeboat Sir William Priestley’.
