Morecambe Bay, with its ports, railway infrastructure, and industries was strategically significant in the early 20th century and so it had a strong military presence at the outbreak of the Second World War.
Defensive buildings from this time are still visible across Morecambe Bay today. We have trained our volunteers to record these buildings and search for archival resources to find more about this fascinating history.
This page collects together the evidence our volunteers have found through these research projects.
