Furness Railway Trust

The Furness Railway Trust has preserved and restored the oldest working standard-gauge steam locomotive in the UK, the 1863 Furness Railway No.20. This was rescued from Barrow Steelworks, and other items from Barrow Haematite Steelworks have also been rescued. The FRT’s restoration base was originally at Haverthwaite, more recently it has moved to the Ribble Steam Railway at Preston Docks. For more information about the background and history, please visit the FRT’s web site.
