The 4 year Back on our Map (BOOM) project (2019-2023), led by the University of Cumbria, in partnership with Morecambe Bay Partnership, aims to reintroduce or reinforce native Cumbrian species that are now extinct or very rare. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, communities around South Cumbria and Morecambe Bay have the chance to lend a helping hand to get these precious plants, animals, trees and insects, back on our map.
We’ll be sharing historical research, oral histories and interpretation around these species and the local landscape on this website. Check back for new information soon.
