The remains of the Russian barque “Vanadis” in Half Moon Bay, Heysham, coming out of the sands after 98 years. “Vanadis was built in Jakobstad in 1874, 185 ft overall with a beam of 35.1 ft and weighed 1.100 tonnes. She originally ran aground on Sunderland Bank, a sand bar at the mouth of the River Lune. Floating off the bank she drifted past heysham Harbour (1904) and came to her rest in Half Moon Bay, Heysham.
